Halloween hair and make-up ideas inspired by Tim Burton.

Try recreating some of Tim Burton’s most renowned hair and makeup designs, whether you’re staying at home or attending a COVID-friendly, ten-person limit outdoor party. Thanks to films like Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissor Hands, Beetlejuice, and others, Tim Burton has offered us a variety of curiously wonderful characters throughout the years.

Tim Burton’s movies are known for their award-winning costumes as well as their ominous undertones. We can’t wait to dress up on October 31st and use our favorite Tim Burton characters as Halloween hair and makeup inspiration since we are huge fans of these dark tales and the wonderful costumes that bring them to life on screen.

Here are six of our favorite hair and makeup looks based on Burton’s most well-known characters.

1. EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

Enhance Edward’s scars using your cosmetics and special effects skills, then pair it with a crazy wig to complete the look! Edward Scissor Hands, 1990

2. BEETLEJUICE & LYDIA

This is the greatest costume for a dynamic duo, as seen on The Weeknd and Bella Hadid. Make a Lydia costume or go all out as Beetlejuice. These hair and makeup looks will need a lot of attention to detail, but they will surely turn heads.

Beetlejuice (1988)

3. CORPSE BRIDE

The Corpse Bride is the perfect opportunity to go all out in terms of beauty and eeriness. A flowing veil and a blue wig, as well as a set of stunning eyelashes and heavy makeup to enhance her enormous doe-eyes, will help to bring this character to life.

(Corpse Bride, 2005)

4. MAD HATTER, WHITE QUEEN, QUEEN OF HEARTS

There are wigs in Wonderland! This is for the admirers of wigs… Whether it’s fluffy and chaotic like the Mad Hatter’s, large and bold like the Queen of Hearts’, or long and sumptuous like the White Queen’s, there’s something for everyone. Finish with some face paint or a bright palette that has never been seen before.

(Alice in Wonderland, 2010)

5. VIOLET AND WILLY WONKA

Are you looking for an easy Halloween costume? The golden ticket goes either Violet Beauregard in a simple blonde wig with purple shadow or Willy himself in a brown haircut with a top hat!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was released in 2005.

6. JOKER AND CATWOMAN

Select well-known Batman characters from Tim Burton’s film. Have some fun with face paint and characteristic green hair for the Joker’s look – excellent for a last-minute outfit. Catwoman’s headpiece, on the other hand, may need some advance planning, but the typical smokey eye and red lip will round off this feline look!

Batman (1989; Batman Returns, 1992)

The hair, makeup, and special effects of Tim Burton’s characters are famous. Be Lydia, Edward, or The Corpse Bride from Beetlejuice. One thing is certain: everyone at the party will recognize you!
