How long the recovery take?

Every patient’s nose is different, and each patient’s rhinoplasty in Turkey recovery is different as well. Many factors can influence how long it takes you to recover from your procedure and see your final results, including:

  • Your general well-being
  • What is your age?
  • How dense is your skin?
  • The proclivity of your body to swell or bruise
  • Which surgical technique is used (open vs. closed)?
  • Whether you are having your first rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty, we can help.
  • Follow your surgeon’s postoperative instructions as closely as possible.
  • If you’re having other surgeries done at the same time as your rhinoplasty, let us know.

What to expect right after surgery?

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation at our on-site surgical facility. You will be driven home by a trusted companion once you are awake and cleared to leave. This companion can stay with you for the first 24 to 48 hours in case you need help. To protect and support your new nasal structures as they heal, you will most likely have a splint placed inside your nose, outside your nose, or both. You will be given pain medication to help you cope with any postoperative discomfort. Following rhinoplasty surgery, swelling, bruising, bleeding, congestion, and achiness are common side effects. For the first few weeks of your recovery, you won’t be able to breathe through your nose, wear eyeglasses, or apply makeup.

What to expect in the first week?

The first few days of your recovery will be the most difficult and time-consuming. Relax as much as possible, preferably with your head elevated. Even though this is the most difficult of the rhinoplasty healing stages, patients are often surprised to discover that they are not in too much pain. To relieve pain and swelling, apply cold compresses. Do not stoop to blow your nose or bend over. It would be recommended that you sleep on your back with your head elevated and avoid any activities that may damage your nose aesthetic istanbul. Because you will have to breathe through your mouth, you may experience sleep disturbances and a dry mouth and throat. Cleaning and caring for your incisions should be done according to your surgeon’s instructions. Five to seven days after surgery, your splints will be removed.

What to expect during the next few weeks?

For the first one to two weeks after your surgery, you will experience swelling, bruising, and mild pain. After four to six weeks, all side effects should be gone. After about one week of resting at home, most of our patients can resume light activities, including work. After rhinoplasty, you should avoid strenuous activity and exercise for at least two weeks, but more likely four to six weeks. You must continue to sleep on your back and are not permitted to wear eyeglasses or sunglasses. It’s important to remember that your nose, especially the tip, has a long way to go in terms of healing. What you see right now isn’t the final product.

The surgical technique used for your procedure will have an impact on this intermediate period of your recovery. The incisions for a closed rhinoplasty are made within the nostrils. This less invasive procedure usually has a shorter recovery time and no visible scarring. It may not be appropriate for patients who need extensive nose reshaping. The surgeon makes an incision at the base of the tissue strip that separates the nostrils in an open rhinoplasty (the columella). This is a more invasive procedure with a longer recovery time and a small scar on the underside of the nose. It is, however, always the best choice for patients seeking more drastic changes because it allows the surgeon more access.

When is the full recovery?

Recovery from rhinoplasty in Turkey is a gradual process. Swelling can be severe and take a long time to go away. As it settles into its new shape, your nose will continue to change — some so subtle that only you and your surgeon will notice them — for months. Try to be patient as you wait to see how your nose will look after it has been improved. It could take up to a year before you see your final results. During follow-up appointments, our doctor will evaluate your progress regularly. These visits are necessary to track your healing progress and ensure that you are taking all necessary steps toward a healthy recovery and a wonderful outcome.
